FADMAG ON-LINE is a an extension of the editorial vision and scope of FAD MEGAZINE» adapted specifically to the interests and psychographics of the Internet audience and the creative potential of the medium. FADMAG ON-LINE has been posted since February 95 and currently is running our version 2.01 interface. New features are added on a bi-weekly basis and we are under construction of the version 3.0 interface at the moment which will add several new sections and an expanded feedback loop to develop more precise information in regard to our net audience.

The Web Audience:
Due to the newness and rapidly changing dynamic of the internet, precise data in regard to its make-up is limited and much previous data is now open to question in regard to accuracy. The one aspect everyone agrees on is that the World Wide Web segment of the Internet, the most graphic and consumer oriented area, is growing at an astounding rate and will continue to do so. The most recent comprehensive survey of the audience of the internet estimates a total pool of 30+ million participants. Other estimates have placed this figure as high as 60 million. Growth rate is estimated in the vicinity of 10 million per year.

The male/female ratio quoted in the new survey was 2/1, although previous, less detailed studies ran in the vicinity of 9/1 for this critical statistic. Our estimate is 5/1 M/F for the FADMAG ONLINE audience. Age breakdown is more consistent. The 20-30 segment is predominant with an estimated 60-70% share, the 30-40 segment comprises an estimated 20-30% segment. Various surveys place the 18-21 segment at 5-10%. Internet readership under age 18 is quite limited and generally estimated at 2% or less.

The excellent demographics and psychographics are a direct result of the computer oriented audience that is intrinsic to the net. Net surfers are very well educated, with a significant college/university/higher education segment, technologically advanced, savvy and very leading edge in outlook and consumer orientation. The simple fact that any net user requires a sophisticated computer, a dedicated server connection and a reasonable level of technical sophistication simply to access the net tells us a great deal about the type of person we are reaching. As Internet access becomes more user friendly and available to a broader audience this will shift to a more general consumer dynamic, but for the short and medium term - techies and new edgers define the net audience.
